Our domaine is located in Pommiers (Rhône), a small village in the golden stone region, 30 minutes north of Lyon and 30 minutes south of Macon. This village is composed of 250 hectares of vines, with an altitude ranging from 250 to 350 meters, spreading on two hills separated by the small stream Galoche.
Our Domaine has been a family-run activity for 3 centuries, and has evolved over time to focus on wine production in 1966, when my father André Fontaine settled. Once with Gamay parcels only, the Domaine has added Chardonnay in 1996, Pinot in 2009, and more recently, in 2017, Viognier and Syrah. These varieties, combined with the diversity of our soils (limestone soils for white wines, sandstone and blue stones for red wines) allow us to offer a broad and rich range of wines. Our Domaine of 17 hectares is HVE3 certified (High Environmental Value). 80% of our parcels are covered with grass, leading to a reduced use of herbicides and fungicides.
